Nikah-Bride’s Reception, 19 Sep 15

After the endless countdowns to the big day, its finally here!

Woke up for Subuh and had breakfast while waiting for Yaya(PSTBR). I was still not feeling anxious nor nervous. Im taking it slowly and enjoying the moment while being dolled up by my gerek kakak andam. We were right on time for the photographers to take some shots before we leave for my nikah at 10am.

Here’s my before and after. *those dark circles just doesn’t want to go away ūüė¶

We proceeded to the venue and I received lots of good comments for the makeup. Yaya made me look so flawless and glowing!

The nervousness kicks in when I saw the husband was getting all ready for the nikah together with tok kadi, my wali who is my father and the two saksi. The emotions when hearing my father giving me away to my husband is just so surreal. Lucky for me, Yaya taught me earlier on how to cry so as not to ‘destroy’ my makeup.

My bridesmaids who are my close cousins planned for the hadang and apparently there were 4 gantries without me knowing. hehe.. So he had to eat lime + wasabi knowing that he can’t take in sour and spicy food.

I was so disappointed with my Kompang. The kompang wasn’t loud enough, I couldn’t hear it from where I was seated on the pelamin. Just look at the photo, they were all small boys, Im not trying to say its a bad thing to have them but they were not good enough and in the first place I have specifically told the leader that I want an all adult group. Wells, its just my luck to get this group. Oh! anyways their kumpulan name is Kumpulan Kompang Warisan Utara.

The kecohness continues after the kompang….

Off to final outfit… alaaahhhhh.. I hate the baju! Yaya was so kind to help me do my hair although Im not wearing her dress. So she put little flowers on my hair. Didnt manage to have any photos of our final walk in as all my cousins are busy standing at the red carpet holding on to all the poppers! It was a grand entrance I would say seeing their happy faces and having to share my beautiful moments with my beloved family members. We were greeted by my wedding cake and a birthday song at the end of our ‘walk’. Because its my birthday! So much love for them!

Regretted that I totally forgot to prepare a speech. Gave a short and simple speech. BUT i totally forgot to thank my husband during the speech. Till today he would disturb me for that. Oops! And then I got all emotional again and was really touched by my dear husband’s speech. It was a long, deep and meaningful speech which was converse in strong Malay, you know ala-ala bangsawan gitu. hehe.. Everyone was impressed by how good his bahasa is. Cant wait for the full video to be ready and hearing it all over again.

More updates on our second day reception at the husband’s side!

Alhamdulillah, its been almost closed to a month¬†being a Mrs. Like any other brides, that feeling of changing your status and having to share your everyday with your husband is just so wonderful. At times, the husband and I will have this little random question “Yang, kita da kahwin eh?” hehe..

My leaves started a week before the wedding. Mum accompanied me the whole week preparing whats left, like the bunga pahar, kids’ berkat and obviously my lovely room done by the parents.

Bunga Pahar

Bought them at Ayer Hitam during one of those visits with the Husband’s family. Got quite a good deal for 50pcs. I spent about $80 for the Bunga pahar, stand, a few stalk of flowers and 5pcs of dulang.

*such a bummer that I didn’t take any photos of these cute babies!

Screen Shot 2015-10-10 at 11.43.41 am

We decided to DIY¬†all our dulang and to have only 5 for each. Me being the budget bride, managed to source out the items in JB and daiso. I even took mum’s decoration balls to input on the husband’s dulang. We were going for a very¬†simple and minimalist look which took me only 2 days to finish all 10 of them.

Him to her:

*again I forgot to take a better picture before handing it over to Husband’s place. Cant wait for the official photos!

In case you’re wondering wheres another 1 more tray, it was meant to be a surprise gift on the wedding day!

I was getting ready for my nikah when my sis came knocking on my door. Yaya opened the door and I received a ‘huge’ gift. I was literally beaming while reaching out my hand to receive the gift and it was a Macbook!

Room Decor

For this I would give my parents a full 100% score for making the effort to furnish my room with a dreamy look! Me and the husband finish it up by putting on our pre wed photos. My maid of honour then sums it up with fresh flowers on the wedding day.

Wedding Cake

Before the henna night, I finished up my wedding cake so as not to ruin my pretty henna. I was first skeptical of the color I chose for my cake. Kept asking people around me for opinions and especially the husband trying his very hard to ensure me that the cake looks good. As usual, the cake doesn’t turn out like any of the Pinterest pins I had! haha! But I was quite satisfied and happy with how the colors goes well with my deco.

The days were passing by so fast and without realising its 2 days left to the wedding. So on Thursday its the henna night! But before all the kecoh-ness, I went for an impromptu massage and spa. It was so relaxing that I didn’t realise it was 6pm. When I was ready to go, checked my phone, there were abt 50 missed calls from my mum, moh, decor(abg syaiful), but mainly its from my mum. She was so worried that I got kidnapped! HAHA! I rushed back home and all of them were waiting for me to start the henna. Oh! and apparently at the same time,Abg syaiful has started to do the pillars at the void deck.

My gfs booked Isabella Heaven Henna for me but unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, she couldnt make it and was replaced by her partner, Adornedsg. I didnt really mind cause I love both their works! I get myself comfortable and straightaway she starts to draw on my hand. It get more and more kecoh when unexpectedly all my close cousins came.

Here’s my final design!

IMG_1415 IMG_1416 IMG_1418

I leave it on overnight and let it peel by itself. This was at 6am when I woke up for subuh. Some of it didnt peel off so I had to wash them. Slowly it gets darker and I mean really dark on my wedding day! So much love for the henna and Im missing it ūüė¶

Thank you AdornedSg!

Before I end my post with the gorgeous songket I had from PSTBR, here’s my heart wrenching drama with my cake cutting dress which I hated so much. If happens that the designer is reading this, Im sorry my friend. I really hated the dress till at one point of time I am ready and almost decided to wear one of my Raya dress. I even ask the husband if we could rush down to Geylang and find a dress for the next day reception. Im that desperate! This is the only decision that I regretted for my wedding and if given the chance, I would redo or rented from somewhere else.

The dress was supposed to be ready by July. BUT it was only ready a week before the wedding!! He promised me swarovski crystals but instead it was replaced by some sequins. When he first showed me the final look, I shared my concern with him that I don’t like the placements of the laces but I guess nothing much changed. The dress came with a detachable can-can which apparently will¬†help to make the dress looks better. Do you ladies see any difference? Coz sadly theres not much difference for me.

My sis was there when I tried it on and convince me that I will look alright.

Till then to my next entry!

8 days

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

We are left with 8 days to the wedding and the anxiety is just too much for me to handle.

One of the most important thing for the Majlis; Bride & Groom’s Outfit

I specifically tailor made the cake cutting dress with a vision in mind and showed them some reference. It may not need to be exactly the same but it must have the ‘wow’ factor. Received the photos of my dress the night before my final fitting. To be honest I was really disappointed with how it turns out even after I’ve given them months to show me the final piece.

Oh wells… Its been fully paid and theres no time for me to find for another dress.

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

Luckily for me PSTBR gave me some good news when we were there for our final fitting. While trying on our nikah outfit, Qee told me there were some problems with my 2 songket outfits which I have to give it a pass. My heart sank a little. But before I could say anything, she told me that I could replace them with a free upgrade. Alhamdulillah.

Shared my concern with Yaya for my last outfit. Im praying that her magic touch will make me feel better wearing the last dress.

Inai dijari

The initial plan was to just berinai like the traditional ones without the intricate designs. I just love the simplicity. At times, I do browse those Henna artist I followed on IG to see their beautiful artwork. But I find those intricate design doesnt look nice on my hands.

After the Mekah henna trial stained I did on my cousin, I dont really like how the color turns out as it was too orangey and blotchy. I prefer it to be in darker tones.

She left in on for 5 hours. The second picture was taken after 12 hours.

Then, my colleague came back from KL and bought 2 different colors of Rani Henna. Tried it on my palm and I looovee the stain! It immediately stained your skin. I left it on for 2 hrs to see if it gets any darker. After washing,¬†the stain stays on but it smudges a little and make my whole palm turns orangey. Im fine with it since it will only be on my fingers. I decided to get my colleague’s help to put it on for me during my henna’s night. yeay!

After so many trial stains on my palms, yes a lot of dot stains cause apparently, my other 2 gfs are getting married before me and so I became their tester.

I received a whatsapp message asking me for my address. These ladies actually surprised me by booking a slot with Isabella Heaven Henna. Alhamdulillah! rezeki nak kawin… With this, I decided to keep my options open and to go ahead with doing the pretty henna designs¬†as long as it doesnt look too busy on the hands. The stalking begins….

Now I cant wait for the henna night with my girls!

After much pinterest.

Ever since I created an account with Pinterest, I just couldnt stop pinning. So everyday I would pinned each and every photos that caught my eyes; 1 board a day. Up to date I have about 775 pins. Well, I know that some of the photos are just too unrealistic for me to do or follow. But I managed to get the help of Mr to make one of my Pinterest pin came to life ūüôā

Busy night measuring while his ears were engrossed listening to the GE2015 rallies… Blearghhh..

and tadaaa! *after an attempt to paste one of the frames and it turns out senget, I let Mr’s trusted hands to do it. Hehe!

And so we did a mini diy photoshoot. Yes, diy sebab kita takda budget to do prewedding shoot. haha!

Mr’s bro assisted and became the photographer for the day while me and mr is the model-cum-photoshoot stylist-cum-photo editor. semua kita nak.. so ambitious gitu…

We started quite late but we were lucky that the sun decided to reappear after a cloudy day. Overall the photos were actually well taken and it was a fun experience to take photos with someone who claims that he does not know how to pose.
